Our lake getaway: “The Deep Creek” cabin stay

February 26, 2016: Our third and final cabin stay during our week-long lake getaway was at The Deep Creek off Village Drive. I found this place off the Flipkey site. Compared to our stay at the previous two tiny home cablns (Luna Bleu and Bella Donna), the Deep Creek rental was like staying in a rustic hideaway palace! A two bedroom, two bathroom lofted 1000 square feet of log cabin goodness.

I eventually found and booked this place directly from the property management company – The Deep Creek Lodging Company.

We arrived at the cabin on Tuesday afternoon for check-in. Check out the “For Sale” sign. Even before walking in, we were tempted with the idea of giving that realtor a call. It was perfect. Just as it looked in the pictures online, only better because we were here taking in the scene.

The Deep Creek cabin is actually one of many log cabins in the Yellow Stone village community. Everywhere you look, you see beautiful log cabins of different styles and sizes. Our rental looked to be the smallest (which is what I liked best about it).

Smell that fresh cut wood. It’s starting to get cold up here at the lake so we’ll be using plenty of those to build fires.

The cabin has a large porch with plenty of seating (four chairs out front). If it wasn’t so cold, I’d spend plenty of time out here enjoying view.

Upon walking in, the first room you enter is the kitchen.

The cabin includes a full kitchen with all appliances – refrigerator, stove, conventional and microwave oven and a dishwasher by the front door.

There’s a square table in the kitchen for dining or to use as a work surface. I’m pretty sure some crafting will take place there while watching TV and enjoying the fire.

On the table, the guest book and hot tub key was left for us. I flipped through the book to read notes and comments from other guests. It included some great ideas for activities in the area and provided a few tips and hints about the cabin.

There are two king size bedrooms – one on the main level and one in the loft. The downstairs bedroom has an en-suite (with two different entries into the bathroom. And it’s adjacent to the outdoor patio with hot tub.

Even the bathroom looks cool – log cabin through and through.

Here’s a unique (yet appropriate) way to mount a bathroom tissue holder. Keeping with the theme of a mountain cabin.

So, here’s my most favorite feature of the cabin.

A spiral staircase that leads up…

and up…

…and up to the loft that provides a lovely view of the rooms below.

Another lovely basket of towels. Extra nice touch in my opinion.

And this is the lofted space (facing toward the head of the spiral stairs and upstairs bathroom.

The upstairs table is where my load of crafting materials, supplies and tools got dumped. I’ll be making plenty use of this space over the next two days. The loft has been designated a VidaDIY zone space.

Back down in the living room, tree stumps are used as love seat side tables. There is no community coffee table stump. So we each claimed on. I used mine as my Phone Haus and Apple Watch dock landing pad.

Having a blazing fire in the fireplace made this cabin all the more perfect.

And as an extra bonus for our winter lake cabin adventure, two days of snow (Thursday and Friday).


We were very sad to check out on Friday (especially during heavy snow fall in progress at the time). We did plenty of kicking back and relaxing at this place. And it provided the perfect atmosphere and space for starting many (and completing a few) crafty creations. Check out a few of my cabin crafting series post.
