Showcasing our Oregon and Washington 2014 Trip Pictures

July 24, 2015: So I have these print outs of my favorite photos from our Summer 2014 trip out west. But I don’t want to do traditional picture frames to showcase our pictures. So here are some alternatives I came up with for modest condo gallery.

Metal Decorative Panels

I took dipped into craft supply stash and made some cool, multi-layered backgrounds for some photos using 12 x 12 linen panels and decorative metal sheets. Here’s my supply list:

  • Linen 12 x 12 panels from Michaels (or white canvas panels from the art supply store).
  • MD Metal Sheets from Home Depot.
  • Black gift tags.
  • White foam stickers.
  • And, of course, binder clips.

This was a super easy and fast project that I knocked out one morning before work. Using a hot glue gun, I glued the metal sheet over the linen panel.

I then clipped a 8 x 10 picture to the panel using a binder clip.  Done!

I then added the 3D foam stickers to the black gift tag to label the place where the picture was taken.

Magnet Board Display

What’s great about this display is that you can use this for picture display, a message board, magnetic storage container holder, you name it. See my Debbie and Dino Wedding Board post for the step by steps for creating a magnetic board using a wood panel and a metal sheet.

For the #Jazztique and #BBCSFPH magnetic board in our den, I tacked on a couple of scrap pieces of my favorite craft paper from the Paper Source with magnets and layered the pictures over them. I then added a tag with sticker letters displaying the place (Oregon 2014).

Wood Slat Clip Display

I came up with this idea quite by accident one night. This is a discarded piece of wood I intended to use for my wood and hanging pipe project. I ended up not using it because I didn’t like the wood stain (too dark). So what to do with the wood?

Why not prop it against the wall and clip pictures to it using binder clips? 😉

Add a cabinet hook at the top, hang a blackboard sign (but also use it as a picture holder), and you’ve got a pretty cool, DIY instant gallery. So this is my Bend, OR ’14 photo display between the living room and bathroom.

I’m continuing to brainstorm more creative ideas for displaying and showcasing photos. I have visions of acrylic and wood in mind. Will post once I pull other photo display projects together. V-
