October ’14 Bedroom Makeover

October 26, 2014: I focused on updating the bedroom space (linens, pillow, wall decor, lamp, etc.) in the month of October. So October became “Bedroom space makeover” month.

October 1:  I already had my pretty pillows from CB2 in place. But had to do something about the black frames above the headboard.

October 25: Swapped out the black framed artwork over the headboard for these cute canvases I picked up at Target. Pretty yellow, tan and grey canvases I found at Target (with a “Home is wherever I am with you” sign). I mounted them to the wall with Command strips.

I also found this lamp shade at Target. So I swapped out the brown, craft paper, shade with this pretty yellow diamond patterned one.

I absolutely loved this sign for over our headboard. I’m aiming for a cozy little place for us to hide away from the crazy world around us. A space with a cabin-like feel. That’s my idea of a perfect sanctuary. A place that makes you think, “Now this feels like home.”

That’s how our bedroom space should always feel. So time for a look to match.

Today: Added this colorful 8×24 pillow from CB2.

I used wall paper from Target to decorate Bruce’s nightstand top.

I used the wallpaper to decorate other items on display as well (like this candle votive and a plastic shoe box).

I placed three pop up bins from the Container Store by my bedside as a colorful storage and organizing solution.

The October (Phase 1) bedroom makeover  is complete!

We’re waiting for our Temperpedic split king bed to finally arrive so that I can launch into a new bed makeover project. Since we’re going from queen to Cali-King, I’ll need to start fresh with new linens. I’ll keep you all posted once that big, beautiful bed arrives. V-
